• Winter houses, located in the lower valley near the river and close to bustling marketplaces—home to blacksmiths, leather workshops, coppersmiths, shoemakers, and other trades.
• Summer houses, positioned about 350 meters higher and 4 km away, nestled among vineyards and gardens, offering a cooler and more comfortable environment during the warmer months.

The city’s name, Safranbolu, comes from saffron, the precious and vibrant flower grown in the region. Known as producing some of the best saffron in Anatolia, the town is famous for a variety of saffron-based products, including saffron Turkish delight, saffron tea, saffron rice, saffron cologne, and saffron soap. These unique local specialties make perfect souvenirs and offer visitors an authentic taste of Safranbolu’s heritage.
